In this video clip from CarolinaBlue.com, 2012 linebacker recruit Camren Williams shows his ability to get through defenders and make a play on the ball. The recent Ohio State commitment looks to make an impact for the Buckeyes right away in 2012. He is a sure tackler that can play in space and wrap up ball carriers easily. He doesn’t get outrun in the highlight clips and is considered the 8th best inside linebacker in the country according to Rivals.com. At the end of the video there are a couple of plays on the offensive side of the ball. Williams has a nice arm but colleges want him on the defensive side of the ball were he is a disruptive force.

This Camren Williams highlight film from 247SportsStudio is pretty much the same video material from BlueCarolina.com but shows how Williams can clog up space in the middle not allowing running backs any room to get up field. He has great speed and is a great tackler. Ohio State was lucky to get him late in the process as Penn State had trouble keeping their recruits without a coach on hand. After committing to the Nittany Lions in March of 2011, two visits to Columbus Ohio in January led the nationally ranked linebacker to change his verbal. He signed with OSU on February 1st.

A December Visit to Columbus

Recruiting analysts heard about a mid December visit of 2012 Catholic Memorial linebacker Camren Williams as he was arriving in Columbus with his family on December 12th. At 6’2” 215 lbs. and rated the 8th best inside linebacker in the country, Ohio State was eager to get Williams on campus to show him and his family everything the program has to offer.

2012 Windsor High School offensive tackle Joey O'Connor is a part of a press conference were he receives an honorary Under Armour All-America Game jersey. O'Connor is the 102nd ranked player by Rivals.com and has recently switched his committed from Penn State to Ohio State. He is considered the 12th best tackle in the country and should be an early part of the line at Ohio State with a number of players recently graduated. Urban Meyer has done a good job a crossing the state line into Pennsylvania and grabbing Penn State recruits before their new coach arrives on campus.

In this great video from 247SportsStudio, Washington High School linebacker David Perkins shows his ability from the linebacker and defensive line positions. Often lining up at the defensive end position, he is able to get away from defenders and make plays on the ball, stripping the ball in the second clip from the quarterback. Near the 50 second mark there is a great clip of Perkins in space making a play behind the line of scrimmage on a screen play. The video shows some offense and punting clips towards the end. He is projected as a linebacker in college and recently committed to Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes for their 2012 class.

Ohio State had a major recruiting weekend in the middle of January which focused on a position of need for 2012, linebackers. David Perkins came away from the weekend in Columbus, Ohio very impressed with the football program and the coaching staff. He met players, coaches, and saw the facilities which are some of the best in the country. Luke Fickell was instrumental in landing Perkins official as the position coach spent the most time with him on the visit.

Ohio State Buckeye recruiting has picked up with the approaching 2012 National Letter of Intent Signing Day right around the corner in early February. Urban Meyer and new offensive line coach Ed Warinner got a commitment from Colorado offensive tackle Joey O’Connor after a weekend visit mid-January. The class now has 23 recruits verbally committed, with some of the best lineman in the country and an overall class  ranking 3rd nationally by Rivals.com. Only Alabama and Texas are ranked higher in the latest team class rankings.

In this highlight video of offensive tackle Joey O’Connor the 6’5” 276 lbs. lineman demonstrates what has placed him two spots away from the Rivals.com Top 100 national players. He drives players out of the play until the whistle is blown. He shows an incredible motor with quick and often pancakes of defensive line players. He has great strength and the ability to get position of the man across the line from him. O’Connor will play at Ohio State under Urban Meyer in 2012 along with a top offensive line class.

This highlight reel of Colorado Windsor High School offensive tackle Joey O’Connor shows him squatting 615lbs to start the film. He shows his incredible strength on the field also by throwing defensive lineman around like they only weighed half of what he can squat. The Ohio State Urban Meyer recruit recently switch his commitment from Penn State. The Jerry Sandusky scandal has rocked Penn State recruiting and Ohio State has quickly taken advantage. Ohio State put together the best defensive line class in the nation and is now building the best offensive line class possible with only a little bit of time remaining before National Letter of Intent Signing Day.

The 26th best offensive tackle in the country, according to Rivals.com, is Taylor Decker from Vandalia Butler Ohio. The 6’8” 315 lbs. offensive lineman recently switched his commitment from Notre Dame to Ohio State with the hiring of ND assistants Ed Warinner and Tim Hinton at OSU. In this highlight film Decker shows great athletic ability and strength to move the line of scrimmage. His pass protection is solid and his high school coach at Butler loves his work ethic.

Taylor Decker made a switch over the weekend from Notre Dame to Ohio State after a visit to Columbus. At 6’8” 315lbs. Taylor has great size and many recruiting agencies have rated him in the twenty's nationally at the offensive tackle position for his performance on the field. Decker had been committed to Notre Dame from the spring but Urban Meyer’s interest and two Notre Dame assistants being hired at Ohio State led to the change in commitment. Most commits will sign letters of intent at the beginning on February.

John Cooper thinks the NCAA should take a look at both Alabama and LSU for violations he told a Cleveland radio station today. The Ohio State coach from 1988 to 2000 also felt the penalties against OSU were unreasonable in comparison to the violations at schools in the SEC. During his time leading Ohio State, they went 2-14 against teams from the South Eastern Conference.

In a rematch of the 2007 BCS National Championship game won by Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators, Ohio State will hope for a better outcome this time around in the 2012 TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. And now Urban Meyer is a part of the new staff at Ohio State which makes things interesting although he is only involved in recruiting and staff hiring for the Buckeyes to this point. The Buckeyes hope the defensive is healed and able to play at the high level they begun the season with. While also hoping Braxton Miller and the offense plays like they did during a three game winning streak in the middle of their schedule this year.

This week marks the national high school all-American bowl week featuring the best high school seniors and many college selections during the games. The fun continues Thursday night with the The Under Armour All-American Game at 7:30pm on ESPN. Saturday is the US Army All American Bowl at 12 noon. The newest bowl is the Semper Fidelis All American Bowl which was January 3rd.

Ohio State recently received a verbal commitment from Se’Von Pittman for the 2012 class. Pittman had been committed to Michigan State but the opportunity to play for the Buckeyes and Urban Meyer was too much to resist. In this highlight film from Scouting Ohio, Pittman shows great speed off the end and an ability to make a play in space. He has great tackling skills and should be a great addition to the top ranked defensive line class for OSU.

In this highlight video of 2012 Bishop McDevitt HS defensive end Noah Spence, you can quickly see his ability to dominate the high school game. The first minute is an intro of the film producer, EasternPARecruits, but then quickly begins the demonstration of Spence’s quick swim moves around tackles and into the backfield to make a play on the quarterback. If the inside swim move isn’t appropriate he can just as soon get around the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle. Triple teaming his is helpful but only buys the offense so much time before Spence is taking down the ball carrier. Rated the best defensive end in the country by Rivals.com, Ohio State is more than happy to add him to their already impressive defensive line class.

After much speculation, Canton McKinley star defensive end Se’von Pittman switched is verbal commitment from Michigan State to Ohio State recently. The 6’5” 240 lbs end is considered the 8th best weakside defensive end in the country for the 2012 class and 3rd best recruit in Ohio this year, according to Rivals.com. He made the move as he heart was with the home state Buckeyes.
