Ohio State has made a major signing for its class of 2021 by securing a commitment from Marvin Harrison Jr to sign for the Buckeyes. Harrison, who stands 6 ft. 4 and weights 174 lbs. is a wide receiver who currently plays for St Joseph's Prep School in Philadelphia and is ranked 87th is the top 100 recruits for this year and is the top ranked receiver in the state of Pennsylvania. One of his current teammates, quarterback Kyle McCord has also committed to Ohio State for next season. Harrison has had 3o catches so far this season for over 610 yards

Marvin Harrison Jr Offers

Harrison Jr had offers from many colleges across the nation and is reported to have had at least 25 scholarship offers. The list includes Arkansas, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Florida, Michigan and Michigan State, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Penn State, LSU and Texas A&M, Virginia and Virginia Tech as well as his fathers alma mater, Syracuse.

Joining Kyle McCord

Harrison Jr has admitted that his friendship with QB Kyle McCord and McCord's decision to commit to the OSU Buckeyes was a major factor in his own decision to also head for Columbus Ohio. Both helped St Joseph's win a PIAA Class 6A state title last season. Both quarterback and receiver were known to stay behind after high school practice to run through some additional drills and McCord has said Harrison Jr thinks like a quarterback and is a physically very strong player. Harrison Jr said that he felt Ohio State was a school where he could progress and develop not just as an athlete but also as a person. He has been highly impressed with both Head Coach Ryan Day and Wide Receiver coach Brian Hartline and was reported as saying that he felt both coaches could help him reach his full potential. Harrison Jr was also reported as being highly complimentary about Ohio State's academic record.

Harrison Jr said he narrowed his choice down to 3 teams, LSU, Ohio State and also the Florida Gators and said he made his mind up after visiting LSU for their game against Florida over the 2nd weekend in October. Harrison Jr said that he felt the time was right to make the decision before his school moved into the playoffs. His current coach at St Joseph's, Tim Roken, has been highly impressed with Harrison's football IQ and his background and is in no doubt he will be a great success at Ohio State.
